ORANJESTAD — Mike Eman has stepped down as AVP leader after 25 years, handing leadership to Wendrick Cicilia. In his farewell speech, he described the transition as a deliberate transfer of responsibility to the next generation.

Eman recalled the legacy of his grandfather Cornes Eman and Henny Eman, highlighting public service, justice and the common good as the party’s foundations. He also thanked his family and the public for their support throughout his political career.

He emphasized that the transition comes while he still has the health, energy and commitment to continue serving. Passing on leadership, Eman said, does not mean losing experience.

Expressing confidence in Cicilia, Eman said he recognizes in his successor the same calling to serve and stand up for the community.
