Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten share expertise to improve cruise tourism
WILLEMSTAD — A simple, memorable and authentically local experience is essential to the future of cruise tourism. That was the central message from Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Secretary-General and CEO Dona Regis-Prosper during the second Shore to Ship Symposium & Workshop in Curaçao.
The two-day event, organized by the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), began on September 21 with 95 participants. A panel featuring representatives from Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten, including Aruba Ports Authority, shared perspectives on improving visitor experiences and creating greater value for destinations.
The program included workshops by the Aquila Center for Cruise Excellence for tour guides, drivers, excursion companies and other professionals. Topics covered handling challenging situations, responding to visitors’ diverse needs and using storytelling to build stronger connections with the destination.
The initiative emphasizes cooperation between tourism and port partners to provide cruise visitors with more consistent service and a memorable local experience.
