Heyliger (AVP): Salary rules must allow Aruba to retain professionals

ORANJESTAD — AVP parliamentarian Clifford Heyliger says Aruba must control public spending while adapting salary rules to attract and retain professionals. During the parliamentary debate on the LNT, he argued that the cap introduced during the pandemic makes recruitment harder, including for young Arubans who want to return but find local employment packages uncompetitive.

Heyliger called for pay that reflects responsibility and staffing needs, particularly in specialized roles. He also criticized MEP for now questioning a rule its former government accepted as part of financial conditions agreed with the Netherlands. These were Heyliger’s arguments in the debate.
