ORANJESTAD — During the opening of the Aruba Global Travel Conference (AGTC) 2026, the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) outlined its strategy for the future of tourism, with a stronger focus on quality, sustainability and benefits for the community rather than simply increasing visitor numbers.
Tourism Minister Wendrick Cicilia, A.T.A. CEO Ronella Croes and CMO Sanju Luidens stressed that tourism success should also be measured by the value it creates for Aruba, its residents and its visitors.
Croes said demand for Aruba remains very strong, but should not be taken for granted. The aim is to stabilize visitor flows through the airport and cruise port, diversify markets and attract guests who fit Aruba’s responsible-tourism vision, including destination wedding travelers, multigenerational families and eco-conscious visitors.
Luidens explained that Aruba’s marketing strategy is increasingly focused on building a lasting relationship with visitors. Through the “When You Love Aruba, It Loves You Back” campaign, A.T.A. encourages travelers not only to enjoy Aruba, but also to respect and protect the island, its culture and its community.
The concept of “Reciprocal Tourism” is central to this approach: tourism should create mutual benefits for both the destination and its guests.
AGTC 2026 brings together international partners, airlines, tour operators and travel agents, which A.T.A. says remain essential to Aruba’s position as a leading Caribbean destination and to a tourism model based on quality, responsibility and long-term value.
