Aruba Airport receives new aircraft emergency vehicles
ORANJESTAD — Aruba Airport Fire Department has received two new specialized vehicles designed to respond to aviation emergencies at Queen Beatrix International Airport. Justice, Integrity and Public Transport Minister Arthur Dowers officially presented the vehicles together with the commander of the Aruba Fire Department.
The Rosenbauer PANTHER 6x6 vehicles are part of an order for three Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) units, representing a total investment of Afl. 8,488,483.12. Two have already arrived in Aruba, while the third is expected before the end of the year.
Each vehicle can carry 11,400 liters of water, 1,600 liters of foam and 250 kilograms of fire-extinguishing powder, allowing firefighters to respond rapidly to aircraft accidents and other aviation emergencies.
According to Minister Dowers, the investment is important to maintain a modern emergency response capability at the airport, particularly because air connectivity is essential to Aruba’s tourism industry and economy.
Dowers stressed that modern equipment alone is not enough. Airport firefighters will also require proper training to make optimal use of the new vehicles.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen the airport fire department’s ability to protect passengers, flight crews, airport personnel and firefighters during aviation emergencies.
