John Hart (AVP) demands clarity on Aruba refinery investigation

ORANJESTAD — AVP parliamentarian John Hart is demanding clarity from the government about the independent investigation Parliament ordered into developments surrounding the Aruba Refinery between 2018 and 2025.

The motion, approved in August 2025, called for the investigation to begin within three months and examine the refinery’s financial and operational situation, agreements with Citgo, announced LNG and modular refinery projects, and the deterioration of facilities and equipment.

Hart is now asking the Minister of Energy whether the investigation has officially started, who is conducting it, whether there have been delays and when Parliament can expect the findings.

According to Hart, Parliament issued a clear instruction and the government must explain how it is being carried out.

“The public has the right to know what happened with the refinery, how public resources were managed and which decisions were taken,” Hart said.
