2026-2027 flu vaccine now available in Aruba

ORANJESTAD — Aruba’s Department of Public Health (DVG) says the influenza vaccine for the 2026-2027 season has arrived and is available for people in risk groups, while others may also purchase the vaccine.

DVG warns that influenza can lead to serious complications and hospitalization, particularly among vulnerable people. Vaccination helps reduce the risk of becoming seriously ill.

Starting Monday, September 14, people who qualify as part of a risk group can receive the vaccine free of charge at the Infectious Diseases Section at Avicenastraat 1, between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Those eligible include people aged 60 and older, adults and children with certain medical risks, pregnant women who meet medical criteria, and healthcare workers who have direct contact with vulnerable patients.

People aged 60 and older must bring their AZV card. Those under 60 who belong to a medical risk group must bring their AZV card and a prescription from their family doctor or specialist.

People who do not qualify for a free vaccine but still want one can purchase it for Afl. 20 between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. A valid ID is required and payment is possible only by card.

DVG is also preparing its annual neighborhood vaccination program. Dates, times and locations for the vaccination bus will be announced later.
