Apple unveils first foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro
CUPERTINO — Apple unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5 and Apple Watch Series 12 at its major September launch event.
The iPhone Duo marks one of the biggest redesigns of the iPhone yet. It features a 5.4-inch outer screen and opens to a 7.6-inch inner display, the largest ever used on an iPhone. It is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and places a strong emphasis on multitasking and artificial intelligence features.
Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with the A20 Pro chip, a more advanced 48MP camera system and variable aperture. The Pro models are $100 more expensive than last year’s versions, while the foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999.
Apple is expanding AI features across its devices, including photography, Siri and on-device processing. The iPhone Duo will become available on October 23.
