Wever-Croes(MEP): Aruba faces crises while Government remains silent

ORANJESTAD — Opposition leader and Member of Parliament Evelyn Wever-Croes has criticized the Government for, in her view, remaining silent while Aruba faces problems in nature and the environment, the economy, tourism, justice, education, health care and infrastructure.

During a public debate, Wever-Croes said the issue goes beyond a lack of action and reflects a lack of responsibility. According to her, both Parliament and the public can see the problems, but the Government is not acting.

She also criticized the Government for not following up on two motions unanimously approved by Parliament calling for the exploration of possibilities in the oil industry. According to Wever-Croes, this also raises questions about the Government’s respect for Parliament.

She concluded that Aruba deserves a Government that provides direction, listens, takes responsibility and delivers results, and that silence should not become the norm while problems continue to grow.
