Aruba sees sharp rise in fall travel

ORANJESTAD — Travel demand for Aruba this fall is rising sharply. New Squaremouth data shows fall travel to Aruba running 53.93% higher, one of the strongest increases in the Caribbean.

The trend is being linked to a relatively quieter hurricane season and changing traveler behavior, with more people shifting vacations from summer into September, October and November. Extreme summer heat in Europe is also prompting some travelers to reconsider when they travel.

Aruba benefits particularly from its southern Caribbean location, which gives it a different hurricane-risk profile from islands farther north. The latest increase follows continued tourism growth, with Aruba recording 427,343 stayover visitors in the first quarter, up 8.9% year over year.

According to the analysis, Aruba’s broad hotel supply, strong airlift and repeat demand are making the island increasingly less seasonal and more of a year-round Caribbean destination.
