ORANJESTAD – Aruba Wastewater Sustainable Solutions (AWSS) will begin a 10-day preventive maintenance program on Monday, August 17, at the wastewater treatment plant in Bubali.

The work will focus on the diffuser aeration system and, according to AWSS, is necessary to maintain the reliability, safety and efficiency of the treatment process. Normal operations at the plant will continue without interruption during the maintenance.

AWSS is alerting the community that temporary odor nuisance may occur in the area surrounding the Bubali plant during the work. The company says this can occur as a normal consequence of this type of maintenance.

According to AWSS, the possible odor nuisance does not pose a health risk, and all necessary measures are being taken to minimize the inconvenience for the community and commercial sector.

The maintenance was scheduled ahead of the high tourism season to ensure the continuity and quality of wastewater treatment services. The work is scheduled to be completed on August 27.
