Forty firefighters certified to operate Aruba's ladder truck

ORANJESTAD – Aruba's Fire Department has expanded its operational capabilities after certifying 40 firefighters to operate its ladder truck and officially adding a new support vehicle to its fleet.

During a ceremony at the Fire Department headquarters in Tanki Flip, Garage Cordia Aruba officially presented the keys to a new Toyota Hiace Commuter to Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport and Energy Arthur Dowers, who then handed the vehicle over to Fire Chief Jair Tromp.

The ceremony also recognized firefighters who successfully completed both the practical and theoretical training required to operate the department's modern ladder truck. According to Chief Tromp, the department now has 40 certified operators qualified to use the specialized vehicle.

Minister Dowers said continued investment in modern emergency vehicles must be matched by investment in training, emphasizing that well-trained personnel are essential for the safe, efficient and responsible use of advanced equipment during emergencies.

With the addition of the new vehicle and the expanded team of certified operators, Aruba's Fire Department says it is better equipped to provide fast, safe and professional service to the community.
