PORT OF SPAIN — Curaçao secured a place in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals with a 1-1 draw against Trinidad and Tobago. The result takes Curaçao to 10 points, beyond the Dominican Republic’s maximum possible total of nine.
L. Phillip put Trinidad and Tobago ahead in the 39th minute, but J. Paulina equalized for Curaçao in the 61st. Curaçao continued searching for a winner late on through efforts from Juninho Bacuna, Leandro Bacuna and Jürgen Locadia, but the score remained level.
Curaçao finishes the group stage unbeaten, with three wins and a draw. Its final group position still depends on Haiti’s result, but qualification is assured. The quarterfinals are scheduled for November over two legs, home and away. Photo archive.
