ORANJESTAD – After 4 long days of intense deliberations and discussions, parliament approved the 2018 government budget with 12 votes pro and 8 against. Early tensions Tuesday night resulted in an almost 4 hour ‘break. A record number of motions (85) were presented and over 2000 questions send to the cabinet on budget matters. Most if not all were answered, finance minister Xiomara Ruiz assured everyone. The budget now goes to the governor who signs it in law, provided the financial supervisory committee CAFT approved it. A date for signing this into law was not given.
