ORANJESTAD/DEN HAAG- “If and when oil and gas drilling efforts start generating income, we will hold nacional discussions as to what to do with this ‘extra income’”. Aruba Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes reacted firmly to a statement made by dutch lawmaker Andre Bosman on the issue. Bosman suggested the ‘extra income’ to be used primarly for paying of national debt. “Bosman can tell decide what his government does in the Netherlands” Wever continued. “Here in Aruba, the Aruban people decide (what happens)”. “Its time we put everyone on their place” Wever continued. Oil and gas drilling exercises start during the summer, and 6 months to a year later, we should know if we actually have oil and/or gas in our waters. “We are not there yet. Let us get there first, before deciding what to do with that money” Wever ended saying.
