Oficial times for political party list handover for august 4 is public now

ORANJESTAD – Political party MAS is the first party to publicly show their party’s list, complete with names of all members on august 4th. This according to the official electoral bureau’s list which is posted on their website. The RAIZ party closes out the day at 3 with their list. Contrary to previous years, the political event (the kickoff of the electoral campaign, will be held at the Census office. On this day, 10 political party’s must officially hand over their list to the electoral body, in order to partipate in the upcoming parliamentary elections set for September 22nd. The two biggest political party’s, the AVP and MEP respectively will hand in their lists at 10:30am and 1:30pm respectively. Other parties also have a set time in between. As per census chief Sharin Luydens, political parties are usually pretty organized and have no need to switch times. Electoral law stipulates that parties may hand in their list between the hours of 9-4pm. “Thus, legally if a party changes their time, we cannot stop them” Luydens confirmed to NoticiaCla.     ORANJESTAD/CARACAS/THE HAGUE – The Aruba government expressed concerns Wednesday morning on statements made Tuesday night by Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro on ‘breaking all comercial ties with the ABC islands”. Aruba prime minister Evelyn Wever Croes told NoticiaCla Wednesday morning in her first reaction, that given the fact that external relations is a Kingdom issue, she contacted the Dutch government and Kingdom government and is ‘monitoring’ the seriousness of the situation to avoid negative consequences for our community”. Additionally the prime minister said that the subject of contraband merchandise is a serious one that the Aruba government is dealing with, with great interest. “Merchandising contraband between Aruba and Venezuela should be dealt with in a swift manner,” Wever Croes continued.

    Government to introduci electronic harpoon fishing permit

    ORANJESTAD – The Aruba government plans introduce electronic harpoon fishing permits, and amend the current list covering species prohibited to fish for in the Aruba waters according to Aruba justice minister Andin Bikker. He reminded the Aruba press during the weekly press conference of a July protest of Aruba fishermen asking to amend the list as it covered popular fishing species. Bikker promised to amend the list based on an international treaty. He also plans to introduce an electronic permit for those wishing to practice harpoon fishing.

    ORANJESTAD – The decision whether to reopen the Oranjestad main street will be taken 90 days into the new year, prime minister Evelyn Wever Croes told press members Monday during the weekly press conference. Other pending issues such as ‘putting a roof on the main street, and the ever ‘popular’ parking meter issue will also be addressed then. Meanwhile Wever Croes assured everyone the committee installed last week is already working on revitalizing the main street. As for the remaining holidays, she appointed popular new kid on the block, Alexlindy Croes to lead the activities planned for the coming weeks.

    Judge hears testimony of off duty cop involved in accident that killed girl

    ORANJESTAD – The driver -, an off duty cop, - who allegedly hit a little girl Zinnia Croes who later died of sustained injuries back in March of 2015, appeared before a local judge to give testimony. The mother of the little girl, local Michella Croes told NoticiaCla this was part of the appeal won recently on an ongoing case trying to find out what exactly happened on that sad Friday night. Prosecuting office in the past withdrew the case for lack of evidence back in September of this year.

    Aruban authorities announce permit policy change for selected few

    ORANJESTAD – A selected group of foreign citizens requesting their first living Aruba permit can now remain on the island while their docs are being processed. The new policy was announced by DIMAS director Kathy Paskel, in charge of handling island permits. The selected few are people who are no burden to the labor force, and who have made a positive contribution to the island. Paskel referred to investors, renter, pensioner, trainee and others married to a local. They are allowed to remain in Aruba while their documents are being processed. Others need to adhere to the regular integration policy, which states that people need to wait abroad for their permit.
